Esame Podoscopio

The podiatric examination is performed with the patient in standing position and allows the footprint to be assessed by the distribution of loads on the two feet, secondarily it provides indirect information on the rearfoot stance and the attitude of the toes.

However, the podiatric examination has rather pronounced objective limitations because it excludes all the dynamics of the foot, which are usually the ones that most markedly express support problems.

In fact, in the propulsive phase, the loads we detect are much higher than those we endure in static.

More recommended then is a baropodometric examination to assess plantar support in both static and dynamic.

The podiatric examination can be considered the first instrumental approach to assessing load distribution after a careful objective examination of the podiatric system.

It is an examination performed using an apparatus called a transillumination podiatrist. The podiatoscope consists of a wooden or metal supporting frame with a transparent crystal top (backlit to make the images more obvious), on which the patient climbs barefoot to remain in a relaxed position for a few minutes.
