Terapie Manuali

Kinesi Attiva e Passiva

The etymology of the word “kinesis” comes from Greek and means “movement” understood to be both passive and active.

In the first case , the physiotherapist acts on the patient who undergoes the treatment without any voluntary motor participation; in the second case, it is the patient who acts actively, putting into practice the exercises recommended by the physiotherapist.

Some equipment can be used in the exercise phase to facilitate the movement or make it more difficult, depending on the purpose to be achieved (rubber bands, sticks, pulleys, mats, balls, exercise bikes, treadmills, rehabilitators, Lapidari’s wheel etc.).

However, it is essential, especially in passive kinesiology, that the physical therapist be familiar with the anatomical structures he or she is working on and their responses.
