A physiatric examination is a specialized medical evaluation that is prescribed in cases of disorders affecting theosteoarticular system resulting from acute or chronic disease, inflammatory processes, trauma, or orthopedic surgery.

The physician, based on the patient’s history and theclinical inspection performed at the physiatric examination, may be able to make a diagnosis immediately, or request any specialized and/or diagnostic investigations, and prescribe a course of rehabilitative treatment, with the goal of curing the disease and re-educating the subject to recovery of the pre-disease state.

There are numerous muscle, tendon and joint disorders that can be identified during a physiatric examination, some of which do not require surgical treatment.

Many of these sufferings can result in a diminished ability to perform daily activities and can cause not only a reduction in motor function, but also affect the affected person’s social and emotional sphere.
